Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Georgetown sophomore center Greg Monroe
will forgo his final two years and submit his name for the NBA Draft, the
school announced Saturday.

Monroe plans to sign with an agent, which will officially end his collegiate
eligibility.

"It was mentally what I wanted to do," Monroe said. "I feel like I'm ready to
make this step after working with our coaches for two years. I've enjoyed
being able to represent Georgetown. I've enjoyed my experience and while I am
leaving campus, I still will always be part of Georgetown."

Monroe averaged 16.1 points and a team-best 9.6 rebounds this season for the
Hoyas. He also posted 3.8 assists and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 52.5
percent and earning first-team All-Big East honors.

Monroe improved his play during the Big East Tournament, when he averaged
19.3 points, 9.3 boards and 4.8 assists in leading the Hoyas to a championship
game.
