Providence, RI (Sports Network) - Providence forward Jamine Peterson has been
kicked off the men's basketball team for an unspecified violation of team
rules.

Peterson was the team's leading scorer as a sophomore in 2009-10, averaging
19.6 points to go along with 10.2 rebounds per game.

"Jamine had a productive season in 2009-10. However, regardless of his
athletic accomplishments, it is essential to the integrity of the program that
every student-athlete meets the high standards and expectations we have at
Providence College," said Friars head coach Keno Davis.

The 6-foot-6 Brooklyn, New York native was an All-Big East Honorable Mention
last year and finished second on the team in both steals and blocks with 39
and 26, respectively.

Providence ended the year 12-19 including a disappointing 4-14 mark in
conference play.
